Subject: Speaking proposal: Practical AI for communications (with live demo)
Hi,
I'd like to submit a speaking proposal for DataFest 2026.
Session: From Brief to Campaign in Under an Hour: Practical AI for Communications
Format: Breakout session (30-40 mins) with optional live demonstration
The pitch: Most discussions about AI in professional functions stay theoretical. This session is different—a live demonstration of building a complete campaign toolkit using AI, from brief to deliverables, showing exactly how project-based workflows and custom skills translate to production-ready outputs.
The meta angle: the pitch materials I'm attaching were created using the process I'd demonstrate. The proposal, deck, and supporting article all came from a single session using Claude Projects with a custom brand skill. That transparency is intentional—it's exactly what I'd show an audience.
Why this fits DataFest: Your attendees understand AI technically. What many haven't seen is practical implementation in non-technical functions like communications. This session bridges that gap with workflow design, quality assurance approaches, and honest trade-offs—not technology evangelism.
About me: I'm the founder of Faur (communications consultancy) and Applied Comms AI (testing AI tools for communications professionals). I hold an ML/AI certificate from Imperial College London (top-quartile performance, 2025) and serve on the ScotlandIS board. Prior experience includes Red Bull (global digital editorial, VR channel launch), Brunswick Group (Director, Digital & Communications), and BBC.
I've attached the full speaking proposal with session abstract, audience takeaways, and technical requirements. Happy to discuss further or provide additional materials.
Best, Michael MacLennan
